When Life Changes, Our Spaces Transform Too

Abundancia

What happens to a home when our life changes?

A separation, a move, a change of job or any other significant life event can mark the end of a chapter. Yet while we change, our spaces often remain the same: the same furniture, the same photographs, the same objects. And still, something about them begins to feel different.

Starting from this question, Sisy Reborn Design proposes a different way of looking at wallpaper: not simply as a decorative element, but as a tool for creating an atmosphere that can accompany the moment we are living through. The brand is founded on a conviction: the spaces we inhabit play a part in how we think, feel and move through different stages of our lives.

Behind this perspective is Ivonne Hurtado, artist and founder of Sisy, whose approach brings together design, sensitivity and reflection on the relationship between people and the places they inhabit. For Hurtado, changing a space can also be a way of recognising that something within us is changing too.

Autumn and spring at the same time

The reflection begins with a simple image: while autumn begins in one part of the planet, spring begins in another. Two apparently opposing movements are taking place simultaneously.

This metaphor offers another way of thinking about our own transitions. One part of our life may be ending while another is beginning to awaken. We can experience loss and curiosity at the same time. We can need a sense of grounding while beginning to imagine something new.

Sisy’s collections emerge precisely from these human movements: releasing and recovering our natural flow, integrating what we have lived through in order to evolve, and finding a freer, more authentic way of expressing ourselves.

Its wallpapers translate these ideas into images that can become part of everyday spaces.

Four ways of inhabiting a transition

Among the designs that most clearly bring this conversation to life are Presencia, Abundancia, Fulgor and Antiope. Each proposes a different way of relating to what remains, what is emerging and what we cannot yet see.

PRESENCIA

PRESENCIA — Something remains while everything changes

Presencia, from the Heal & Release collection, begins with the image of an axis that remains stable amid movement. It poses a simple question: when our life changes, what continues to be our centre?

During a transition, not everything changes at once. There are relationships, memories, values or spaces that continue to serve as points of reference. The design translates this idea of permanence into a visual presence: a reminder that change does not necessarily mean losing everything.

Abundancia

ABUNDANCIA — Inhabiting what we cannot yet see

Abundancia speaks of those periods when we do not yet know where what we are experiencing will lead us.

The design proposes trusting what is maturing even though it may not yet be visible. Its deep, repetitive composition evokes a life that circulates and multiplies quietly: an idea, a body of work, a new direction or a truth that does not yet need to reveal itself in order to exist. Sisy places it within Integrate & Evolve, a collection bringing together designs conceived to help us understand what we have lived through and continue with a broader perspective.

FULGOR

FULGOR — When something begins to glow again

Fulgor accompanies one of the most complex experiences of transition: discovering that the ending of one thing and the beginning of another can coexist.

Inspired by the movement of light and by a vitality that re-emerges without imposing itself, the design proposes a warm, expansive and serene atmosphere. It speaks of rediscovering motivation, creativity and enthusiasm without having to deny what has just ended. It is currently part of Express & Shine, Sisy’s collection associated with occupying one’s own place with greater freedom, confidence and authenticity.

ANTIOPE

ANTIOPE — Strength can also be sensitive

Antiope proposes another way of understanding strength. Moving through change does not always require us to harden ourselves.

Inspired by the mythological figure of Antiope, the design explores the coexistence of firmness and sensitivity. Its proposition is one of serene strength: the ability to remain grounded without closing oneself off, and to make decisions without losing openness.

It is also an especially relevant image for those moments when one chapter has ended and we do not yet know exactly what comes next. Antiope forms part of Express & Shine and is presented as a design associated with personal sovereignty, presence and confidence.

From wallpaper to lived space

Sisy does not suggest that wallpaper can resolve a life transition. Its proposition is different: that our surroundings can accompany us through it.

An interior can become a place of pause when we need to regain our balance, a point of support while we integrate what we have experienced, or a setting that allows us to express who we are more freely. This perspective underpins the three lines that currently structure Sisy: Release & Heal, Integrate & Evolve and Express & Shine.

In this way, wallpaper becomes more than a decorative surface; it becomes part of the experience of a space. Sisy’s designs seek to create atmospheres capable of accompanying different moments: when we need to let go, when we are rebuilding our centre, or when we begin to occupy our place once again.

In the language of Sisy’s philosophy, it is about designing spaces that accompany life through the spaces we inhabit: design for rebirth.
