What is the difference between Face Brick and Brick Veneer?

Q: What is the difference between face brick and brick veneer?

A: Face brick is exposed brick on a home’s exterior or interior. Brick veneers are much thinner than brick and are made from fired clay and shale. Brick veneers are much lighter than actual bricks and are applied to an existing structure such as a wood frame. Brick veneers are a good choice for existing homes since a real brick structure is impossible to construct once the home is built. Brick veneers can be added to almost any surface, allowing homeowners to have the style of brick without the associated cost. However, brick veneer does not withstand wind, fire and the other environmental issues as well as real brick, which means it typically needs to be maintained more often than face brick.
