New Single-Wheel Hangers Carry Heavier Doors
Today’s homeowners continually seek products that improve on those of the past. Industry-leader Johnson Hardware has proactively responded to these weighty expectations with their newest innovation. It has unveiled upgraded sliding bypass door hardware lines that carry heavier-weight doors by means of unique new single-wheel door hangers.
For the first time, the single-wheel hanger sets in Johnson’s aluminum bypass systems 2200, 2200F, 2222 and 2204F can accommodate doors weighing up to 75 pounds apiece. In addition, Johnson’s single-wheel hanger sets in its steel bypass systems 1166 and 1138 are now capable of handling doors weighing up to 60 pounds each.
Measured Improvement
In tests of the updated one-wheel hanger systems conducted on the 2200 Series, the single-wheel hangers were found superior to the original two-wheel hangers. Specifically, single-wheel hangers carrying 75-pound doors required a mere three pounds of pull to move the doors. By contrast, earlier tests of two-wheel hangers revealed four pounds of pull necessary to move the doors. In short, a 25% improvement was achieved by the new single-wheel hanger, yielding a test result over and above ANSI standards.
Thanks to the improvement offered by the upgraded systems, homeowners gain greater design options and flexibility, as Johnson’s bypass hardware sets can now be easily installed with more door styles and weights. A variety of door material choices such as solid wood, metal, or half and full glass lite can be paired with the bypass hardware sets for a durable, long-lasting door system that delivers smooth door operation. Trusted Features
In addition to the benefits above, the upgraded systems offer many of the same advantages earlier generations did. For instance, the 2200F and 2204F Series provide precision extruded fascia track, with the integrated fascia covering the top door installation hardware. Convex track rails are incorporated to deliver single-point, low-rolling resistance. Adjustable track stops can be mounted to the track, limiting the door movement wherever they are installed along the length of track.
The upgraded sliding bypass door hardware with fascia also offers molded nylon adjustable door guides. The guides accommodate 1-3/8-inch doors, helping maintain smooth and quiet door operation. Guide plates feature slotted mounting holes, which help enable precise door operation.
Ease of door operation is enhanced further with the Flush Pulls. The 2155 Door Stop prevents the front door from covering the flush pull. Finally, Johnson Hardware’s track can be cut to accommodate narrower doors. Simply order the next longer track for the door width and cut it to size.
