Sakrete Ramps Up DIY Skatepark Building with Local Sponsorships and Thrasher Magazine’s YouTube Series
Sakrete, part of Oldcastle APG, ramps up its support of DIY skatepark builders by sponsoring the Honeoye Falls NY DIY Skatepark and Thrasher magazine’s “How to Build” YouTube series. As a leading brand of bagged concrete products, Sakrete offers DIY skatepark builders the fast and easy solution to building and repairing skate ramps and features. It offers long-lasting durability and the sought-after smoothness of concrete for any visionary skater.
“At Sakrete, affectionately dubbed ‘Skatekrete’ by the skaters, we’re excited to continue supporting DIY skateparks with the right materials to start, grow and improve skaters’ favorite venues,” said Dave Jackson, Senior Brand Manager, Sakrete. “When we saw how the crew of Honeoye Falls DIY Skatepark had already relied on Sakrete to take their local park from dilapidated to state-of-the-art, we knew we had to find a way to help them take it up another notch.”
Sakrete has supported their park since 2021, donating pallets of bagged concrete and a gasoline-powered mixer to expand their park. After seeing their hard work and dedication, Sakrete is committed to sponsoring one local DIY skatepark per year. Submit your park here.
Sakrete’s pre-mixed bagged concrete is perfect for skateparks and is readily available at local home centers and is easy to store, transport and mix. It enables skaters to build features with a smooth, low-maintenance finish that outlasts alternative materials like wood and metal, which are subject to rot and rust. Unlike the ready-mixed concrete pumped from trucks, Sakrete’s mix has the needed working time and can be micro-adjusted for the specific conditions of each project.
Sakrete is further embedded in the skate community with sponsorship of Thrasher’s ‘How to Build’ video series, which aims to elevate skateboarder education and love of the sport, along with how to upgrade their favorite skate spots. It is hosted by pro skateboarder Austin Kanfoush, who is also a concrete contractor and serves as an excellent resource for newcomers and veterans of concrete skatepark building. Most recently, Kanfoush used Sakrete to fix up Lower Bobs Skatepark in Oakland, CA for the 2023 P-Stone Cup. Watch the video here.
