Miami, FL – GMX Group is proud to announce that its Maximo Thermowood® Ayous lumber, powered by Novawood Technology, has received a special mention from Architizer magazine in its prestigious 2024 A+ Product Awards. Selected by the awards’ esteemed panel of judges, the Thermowood Ayous Special Mention recognizes its exceptional quality and innovation as one of the best architectural products in the world. Sustainably harvested Maximo Thermowood Ayous delivers the sophisticated aesthetic of premium wood combined with advanced thermal modification technology to provide architects and designers with an environmentally friendly solution for ceilings, walls, rainscreens and more.
The 2024 Architizer A+ Products Award winners were carefully chosen from hundreds of entries. Architizer’s thorough selection process was guided by a distinguished jury of more than 200 practicing architects and designers worldwide, who assessed entries across 39 categories. The judging criteria included aesthetics, performance, innovative use of materials, environmental impact, and the potential to incorporate new technologies and design practices.
“The GMX Maximo team is thrilled to earn this honor for Thermowood Ayous, which was selected by a prestigious jury of designers and architects,” said Kevin Kilpatrick, Chief Marketing Officer, GMX Group. “Reflecting our dedication to environmental stewardship, Thermowood Ayous offers architects a sustainable solution for various exterior and interior applications with the beauty of premium lumber.”
The wood used in the production of Thermowood Ayous lumber is sustainably harvested from fast-growing Ayous trees, ensuring minimal impact on the ecosystem. Fortified through Novawood’s innovative thermal modification process, the moisture content of Thermowood Ayous is reduced to approximately 4 – 6%, making it less susceptible to movement and offering easier handling, machining, installation, and reduced labor. The process also enhances the wood’s resistance to decay, insects, and moisture, ensuring enduring performance in cladding environments. Thanks to Ayous lumber’s inherent stability, minimal maintenance is required after installation, allowing it to resist warping, cupping, and decay. The thermal modification process also enhances the appearance of Thermowood Ayous into a rich, honey-brown color with natural variations.
Maximo Thermowood Ayous is available in diverse profiles and sizes, from V-joints to trending Fluted panels (1×6, 1×8, 1×12, 2×2, 2×4, 2×6, and 2×8). It provides architects and designers with unmatched flexibility to create designs that harmonize with any architectural vision.
