Lowe’s Adds Smart Phone Features To Its Nursery Items

How cool is the ability to have your phone tell you how to take care of the specific plants you purchase? Beginning in Spring 2011 Lowe’s will tag its nursery plants with smart tags that download plant information to your smart phone.  For the Holiday Season 2010, Lowe’s Christmas Trees and Poinsettias will feature the tags.

Lowe’s is the first large home improvement store to roll out this new technology.  I can foresee WiFi enabled stores loading coupons and information customized to individual shoppers needs in the future.  From our end, we look forward to incorporating pick list for supplies needed to complete our projects and your phone taking that list and finding availability and pricing in your area. The technology is here and deployment will be here sooner than you think.
