Q. How do I fix a flickering lamp?
A. First, make sure the bulb is tightly screwed down into the socket so there’s no loose connection. If that doesn’t work, unplug the lamp and look for any fraying on the cord near the plug. If the cord looks good and doesn’t require replacement, then although the bulb is screwed tightly, it is still probably not touching the metal contact tab at the bottom of the lamp socket. Try removing the bulb and using a flathead screwdriver to pry the metal tab about 1/8-inch off the bottom of the lamp socket. Use the screwdriver to scrape away any rust or debris from the contact point. Replace the bulb and test the lamp. If the light still flickers, the lamp probably has a faulty socket, switch or power cord.
