Does Adding Glue Inside a Screw Hole Strengthen the Connection of a Wood Screw?

Q: Does adding glue inside a screw hole strengthen the connection of a wood screw?

A: For outdoor applications that are exposed to a lot of wet/dry cycles, it helps to coat the screw threads in a non-shrinking adhesive, such as an epoxy, to prevent moisture from working into the screw holes and loosening the joint, but the bite of the thread is where a screw achieves its holding power.
