Q: Do you have a spot-removal suggestion to use on carpet?
A: A good standby is to mix 1/4 teaspoon of clear, non-bleach, non-lanolin, non-optical brightening dish-washing liquid per one cup of warm water. Apply to the spot but do not saturate. Leave the detergent on the stain for 8 to 10 minutes. Blot the liquid (don’t scrub!) with a dry, white, absorbent cloth or white (not printed) paper towels. It may be necessary to rinse with warm water several times to completely remove residues. Avoid using an automatic dishwashing detergent because many contain bleaching agents that could ruin the carpet color and damage fibers. Also, avoid using laundry detergent, which may contain optical brighteners (fluorescent dyes) that could dye the fiber.
