Opened in the late 19th century and recently restored to its former glory, the Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard is one of the most significant examples of eclectic architecture in Bucharest.
Situated in the heart of the Romanian capital, the building is now revealed in a new light: the relighting project, designed by Visual Energy Associates with the contribution of Linea Light Group, restores a new urban presence to the architecture, highlighting its identity and decorative richness in the evening hours. The project is based on an integrated lighting system, designed to enhance the architectural language of the façade and create a harmonious and coherent night-time appearance. The various solutions adopted work in synergy, striking a careful balance between light and form.
THE EXTERIOR PROJECT: A SYNERGISTIC SYSTEM
A key element of the project is the Xenia linear system, designed for high-performance outdoor applications and fitted with wall-grazing optics, which cast a uniform and controlled grazing light across surfaces. Thanks to the precision of the light distribution and the continuity of the light output, the system reveals textures, mouldings and architectural details with exceptional clarity, whilst ensuring high durability and long-term reliability. The Periskop Q spotlights introduce precise points of light thanks to the precision of their optics and their adjustable orientation, which allows the light distribution to be modulated with great flexibility. Completing the project, the Orma ground-recessed luminaires blend into the ground, allowing the light to emerge from below: the building’s vertical profile is thus accentuated, with its proportions and materiality discreetly highlighted.
The overall result is a façade that, at night, takes on a new clarity: elegant, understated, capable of reinforcing the building’s urban presence and restoring value to its historical legacy.
THE LIGHT THAT SHAPES INTERIORS
Linea Light Group’s solutions help to create atmosphere and visual comfort in interior spaces too, defining refined and welcoming environments in keeping with the standards of the high-end hospitality sector. In guest rooms and executive meeting rooms, the lighting combines high performance with discreet integration into the architecture. Vos downlights provide precise and comfortable general lighting, ensuring high-quality light and visual continuity across the ceilings. The LED strips, fitted within the perimeter light channels, generate a soft and uniform indirect light, enhancing the volumes and contributing to a fluid and balanced perception of space. The coordinated use of the various luminaires allows for the development of a unified lighting language, accompanying the guest’s experience throughout all areas of the hotel.
Light thus becomes a central design element: not merely a technical tool, but a means of expression capable of interpreting the architecture and reinforcing its identity. Through this project, Visual Energy and Linea Light Group are helping to give the Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard a new nocturnal dimension, where history and innovation coexist in a contemporary balance.
